For over 60 years, Yamaha Music Schools have been bringing the joy of music-making to students of all ages across the world, and since 1976, right here in the UK. Now part of that legacy, Yamaha Music School Plymouth offers structured, fun, and inspiring music education designed to unlock every student’s creative potential.
Backed by one of the largest music education networks in the world, YMS provides high-quality, progressive music lessons for children, teens and adults. Whether it’s your first note or your next grade, Yamaha’s holistic approach ensures students learn to listen, sing, play, read and even compose, all from day one.
Our specially designed programs introduce children to the world of music through fun, sensory-rich group classes. These lessons nurture a child’s natural musicality and create a strong foundation for lifelong musical learning.
Yamaha’s structured courses go beyond instrument instruction; we focus on developing full musicianship, covering everything from ear training and theory to performance and creativity.
Our unique group lesson format helps students grow in confidence, learn from their peers, and build friendships, all while progressing at their own pace. For younger students especially, this shared experience fosters a love of learning and music that’s hard to match.
Each course has clearly defined levels, so students can see their progress and celebrate their milestones. Our materials are expertly developed by Yamaha’s global education team and align with international standards.
From in-class concerts to large-scale showcases and national events, Yamaha students have many chances to shine. Performing builds confidence, motivation, and a deep connection to music.
All Yamaha teachers undergo specialist training and continuous development. At YMS Plymouth, lessons are led by experienced, passionate educators who truly care about each student’s musical journey.
With hundreds of Yamaha Music Schools across the globe, students are part of something bigger – a worldwide community of young musicians.
At Yamaha Music School Plymouth, we’re proud to bring this world-class music education to our local community. We teach from our friendly, well-equipped base at Four Greens Community Trust, offering group and one-to-one lessons in guitar and bass, with more instruments to come soon.
